holy good sale at the garden center!

everything was at least 50% off at my garden center up the hill... now i can finally fill up my front yard... within my budget!  I got some black lace, some other black plant, this tree thing with white flowers, and some other vivaces (perennials?) with white flowers...  managed to stuff two trees and the small plants into my bike basket, and one tree into my backpack... it was a bit of a wobbly ride down the hill, and i got some confused looks, but i'm going to go back for more stuff later this weekend before they close down for the season... all this for $30!! i've biked with some pretty random things in my basket: trees (more than once), a mid century teak table, cooked leg of lamb (more than once), ribs, roasted duck (more than once), thanksgiving dinner (ie: entire roast turkey), etc... 

rabbit heads and mounted deer heads

this is the third installment of new stud earrings... rabbit heads, and mounted deer heads... two super cute animals that don't really make any noise. weird isn't it?  someone told me that rabbits scream when you kill them, but i think that's just one of those awful rumors, you know, like the one where you grow hairy palms, or go blind, or how baldness comes from your mother.  available in my etsy shop...

the lovely ladies at victoire requested little stud earrings, so i've come up with a little collection of tiny studs!  i currently have 8 piercings in my ears and i'm pretty excited to fill them with new things...  here are the first two, little bows, and mini claws!  available in my etsy shop.  i'll be posting the rest of the earrings in the next few days!  

wednesday comics! the FLASH!

issue #1 of "wednesday comics" is coming out this wednesday july 8th!  the FLASH story is illustrated by karl kerschl and co-written by my bf brenden fletcher.  They've been BFF since they were NINE!  Now they're old(er).  Check out Karl's "wednesday comics" contest on his blog.

check out this beauty... this is the vintage hood vent i took down the other day... the wiring was a bit dry, and when i went to plug it in that last time, while cooking some green beans, i could actually hear the electricity crackling.  i said "oh hell no" and took it down right away.  it's nasty and covered with at least 35 years of grease.  hopefully i'll get to reno the kitchen soon... i didn't want to buy anything new/temporary for the kitchen if i was going to tear everything down and replace it anyway.   so holding out for now,  fanless, until i have everything planned out...  please excuse the crackhouse flooring styles,  i took out the laminate floating floors ages ago, and i haven't gotten around to finishing the floors yet... 

the ladies are here!!!

ordered some ladybugs friends to eat the aphids on my two apple trees and one pear tree. i managed to kill most of the aphids last week by spraying them with lukewarm water with a bit of biodegradable dish soap.  but, you have to do that all the time to keep them under control.     

i missed the ladybug delivery before the weekend... i called purolator, i called home depot... they couldn't redeliver for THREE days!  i was sure they would be ALL dead dead dead... but the ladies have arrived, and are all alive, and seem ok... it's pouring rain right now, so i put them in my fridge next to the salami + feta  for a nice sleep.  to be released shortly.   this is exciting.  my next purchase?  an anteater.

new "extra small" skulls...

working on some even tinier skulls... i've re-named the "mini skull", "small skull", and this even smaller skull will be named- the "extra small" skull...  these are going to be tiny pendants and really small stud earrings!  please excuse the wrinkly dirty waterlogged hand.... 

these "extra small" fu*kers were flying all over my studio when i was grinding, sanding, finishing + polishing them... it's hard to get a good grip on them, and they also get pretty hot when you're working on them... lost count of the times i had to get up and crawl around my floor looking for them...  my knees are sore, but i think my hearing has improved.  i'll post them in my etsy shop soon.....

oooh, yana gave these to me months ago, but they've been WAY too cute to use... i had them hanging on my bathroom door and i would pet them every time i passed by.  but i'm going to do it.  i'm going to use them... one little hand at a time.  hand soaps in the shape of hands?  it's genius.  a fun company called plastic foliage makes them.  amazing!

i've just listed a TON (not all) of my vintage jewelry in my roadkillsupplies.etsy.com shop... i absolutely adore vintage rhinestones and jewelry,  but i find that i just don't get around to wearing them.  EVER. probably because i'm too busy wearing and pimping my own jewelry... hahah...  um, just kidding.  so, quite sad to see these go, but i know they'll find a good home.

i was actually sitting on this chair as well, trying to work with a dog behind me and a cat on my lap...  until i got demoted.  watch mary put her arm around pepito.   hmmm, this video just reminded me of the time my good friend met some guy at a bar and he kept trying to shove his tongue in her ear.  we refer to him as "the drill".

some of my favorites this week... this is an underpass by my house...  the scenery changes weekly, daily, hourly...  makes me love living by the train tracks.... wonder which side of the tracks i'm on...  yay hochelaga.

had a really good weekend at ladyfest ottawa's tarts n' crafts sale... good turnout even with the rain... here's a picture of my table...  this was probably taken before that horrible little girl came by and started touching stuff...  and offering me $0.45 for my bow necklaces...  i couldn't find her mother anywhere...

up until, oh about five minutes ago, i've been crunching up and tossing my "to be recycled" papers directly onto the floor.  sometimes even pre-shredded... to be picked up at some later time.  look. i'm getting organized.
